I’m calling it – concealer is my best friend. I honestly don’t know what I would do with out it! With my dark circles and redness my face would be an absolute mess if I didn’t have it in my arsenal. So this post is going to go through my favourite concealers and what I use them for.
First up is Napoleon Perdis The One Concealer – I would die without this concealer, or more like I would look dead without this concealer. This is a salmon toned corrector that does most of the covering up of my extreme dark circles, I use a small amount of this on the most effected areas and blend it in with a beauty blender. It’s quiet a thick paste so the beauty blender really thins it out and makes it look a bit less intense. On top of this I use the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser – This is a beauty world favourite and boy oh boy do I agree, its extremely light so it doesn’t cake which is definitely what you want with your under eye area. I use this over the Napoleon one which is works brilliantly to cover up the remaining dark circles and is light enough to add a bit of a highlighted look. Another under eye concealer that I love is the Amazing Cosmetics Concealer in Medium Beige – This is a heavy duty concealer, its super thick and covers up anything you can imagine. I mainly use this when I’m in a real hurry and need to quickly cover up my dark circles, I pop just a little bit in the darkest area and lightly blend it out. This doesn’t cover up my dark circles completely but it does a pretty good job. A lighter version of all of these under eye correctors is the Napoleon Perdis Mighty Concealer Pen in Pink Beige – This is a super lightweight corrector that has a pinky tone to it, I mainly use this for those no makeup makeup days, I apply a thin layer under my eyes blend it out and then follow up the Maybelline Dark Circle Eraser. This combination doesn’t look cakey at all, it definitely looks natural but it does show a little bit of my dark circles showing through.
The last two are what I consider face concealers. First up is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Classic Beige – I know a lot of people in the beauty world use this under their eyes but it just ain’t strong enough for me. This is a beautifully light concealer that adds that extra little bit of coverage to redness and spots that foundation may have missed. I tend to use this around my nose, on my jawline where I also get redness and a little bit on my forehead. As it’s quite think it doesn’t cake up however, it isn’t the most long lasting concealer in the world so I tend to keep this for short days or very casual days. Finally I have the Elf Maximum Coverage Concealer in Nude – This is quite heavy duty so it covers a lot! I mean I probably wouldn’t call this maximum coverage but it definitely does the job. I use this in the same areas as the Rimmel one and it lasts brilliantly, I use this on long days and definitely nights out. Again it isn’t cakey at all but I tend to blend this in with a beauty blender so I get that incredibly flawless look.
So there you have it my myriad of concealer that will cover anything you wish. What concealers are your favourites?

I know I say it every month but I cannot believe August is over! I have mixed emotions about this year going so quickly, on one hand it means I will have finally graduated university and will then be heading to Europe which is very exciting. On the other hand it means uni is over and I have to enter the real world and get a grown up job and do grown up things! No! But then on another hand again I will hopefully be earning real money and just think of all the amazing beauty items I can buy with that money! Anyway back to August favourites, this month has been pretty busy with uni and travelling between that and work has been a lot. At least with being this buys I have had a lot of makeup days which means a fair few makeup favourites so lets start.
First up is a hair favourite, it’s the Toni & Guy Rough Texturiser Spray – at the moment I have a shortish bob that really lends itself to a few curls and a lot of texture so after going through my hair with a curling wand I spray my hair thoroughly with the texture spray that gives it that nice lived in feel. Next up is a foundation that promised a lot and certainly delivered, it’s the YSL Fusion Ink Foundation – this promises to be long lasting as well as feather light on the skin and boy dies it deliver on both! This has been my go to foundation at the moment as it is super easy to apply, I just swipe the convenient applicator across my face a few times and quickly blend tin with a brush. This foundation is one of those very watery products that dries to powder, this is a hint that it dries matte which is a bonus for my oily skin. It also lasts an extremely long time, I’ve really tested this out on one of my long days full on trains and walking and it really stands up to the stress, no caking and minimal shine! Sticking with the face I have really been enjoying the Bobbi Brown Blush in Sand Pink – I recently wrote about this in my make me blush post and I honestly forgot how beautiful and natural it looked, I’ve really been getting some use out of on days that I don’t want too much makeup on and just want a very subtle flush. It’s also matte so it really just looks like you’ve been standing out in the cold for a little bit. Im always on the search for a perfect eyebrow product so when the L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper in Medium/Dark came out I knew I needed to give it a go. Now I thoroughly enjoyed Benefit’s gimme brow so when this came out I was hoping that this would be my drugstore answer, now it isn’t exactly the same but in some ways I think I like it better. The brush is slightly bigger which isn’t really a bother but what I like most about this is its holding power! I have quite unruly brows so this really keeps them in place without being too crunchy, another bonus is the size, this is much bigger than the benefit one so it will last me a hell of a lot longer. To the lips now, so I’m officially a lip gloss convert and after some suggestions from you lovely readers I headed over to the NYX stand and checked their glosses out. I settled on the NYX Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake – These glosses are super buttery like the name suggests and not one bit sticky, thank god. This colour is also perfect for me, it’s that beautiful combination of pink and brown, very natural and very wearable. I also just love the fact that I can slap this on without needing a mirror. If I want to step it up a notch I pair it with MAC’s Whirl lip pencil which just adds an extra bit of oomph. Finally I have a nail favourite, it’s the Maybelline Colour Show in Pinkalicious – This is just a really pretty muted neon pink shade which is really making me look forward to spring! Now the formula is great to apply yet it doesn’t really last that long, I put this on my nails on Saturday and it started chipping by Monday so not a great wear length but for price I’m not too mad.
So there you go another month another favourites. What have been your favourites in August?

I love the look of freshly tanned skin, the feeling of just been on holiday even though you haven’t. When it comes to self tanning I can be quite lazy, I want it to be and painless when applying and I want it to dry immediately which I know is not really possible when it comes to at home tanning. However, I have now find this little beauty which has changed my tanning life! It’s the ST.Tropez Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse – This promises to give you a sun kissed tan within one hour, now it says that on the bottle however, when you read further into it I found that it was one hour for a light tan and 3 for a deep tan so clearly I go for the 3 hours, I’m not going through all that effort just for the hint of a tan! So what I do with this beauty is make sure I exfoliate the day before applying, I then pump a generous amount on my tanning mitt and apply an even coat all over my body. I have to concentrate on my chest area as well, it really seems to eat up the tan and not get a nice deep colour for some reason. The think I love most about this tan is that it dries so quickly! There is no sitting around waiting fanning yourself waiting for it do dry, it’s pretty much just apply and get dressed and wait for the tan to develop. After about 3 hours or maybe 3 and a half, I jump in the shower and lightly wash it off with a body wash, then viola you have a beautiful sun kissed tan! It also continues to develop for a further 8 hours so do not be afraid if you don’t look super tanned after your shower. I love this stuff so much because it doesn’t give you any orange tones whatsoever it’s an extremely natural bronzed look which is think is due to the olive tone coloured mousse. Another major bonus of this tan is the wear time, I’ve currently be wearing this tan for a week and have not had to exfoliate it off, it wears away very naturally, not patchy which means less work for me in the long run!
All in all I think this is a must have for any tan lover out there, the convenience of being able to tan without having to sleep in it and worry about stains on your sheets or being all smelly is a major bonus. I think this is an item that I will always have in my arsenal.
Have you tried this product? What are your favourite tanning products?

I am obsessed with lip balm, I always have to have at least one on me at all times so this post it dedicated to some of the man lip balms I own and use on a regular basis.
I’m going out hard to begin with, probably the most frivolous purchase I have ever made it’s the By Terry Baume de Rose – This lip balm is probably the best one I have ever purchased and I tell you what it would want to be for the price tag. It is so creamy and luxurious on the lips and has a heavenly scent of rose, if my lips are in a dire situation this is the lip balm I head for. Next up is a new one but something that I can see myself getting a lot of use from it’s the Clinique Superbalm Moisturising Gloss in Apricot – I purchased this the other day thinking it would be incredibly useful to have in my handbag, something that is moisturising yet has a hint of colour. It has a lovely subtle peachy pink shade and adds a beautiful gloss to the lips. I also think this will be great for travelling, my lips always get super dry on planes so I’ll definitely have this in my carryon. Another brilliant all rounder lip balm is the cult classic Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream – This is an absolute classic for a reason, it does everything! I use this on my lips every night before I go to bed and know that it will protect them, it also works on my hands and cuticles when they are a bit dry and when my dry flaky patches on my cheeks to add some real moisture and protection. Now that is a real all rounder isn’t it? I have also had this one tube for a very long time so you’re really getting your moneys worth with this one! This next one is a real favourite of mine it’s the Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Aid – I have had a few Lanolips products in the past including their 101 ointment and enjoyed them so much so I knew I would love the Lemonaid lip aid as well. This is perfect as it is extremely moisturising as well as having little flecks in it which very gently exfoliates the lips which really comes in handy when they are particularly dry. The smell of this is stunning, it’s so fresh and lemony, just another reason to love it. Finally I have quite an unusual lip balm it’s the Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream – As the name suggests it is a lip cream so the texture is quite thin unlike most balms that are very thick but this cream really sinks into the lips and leave a protective barrier. What I like to do most with this one is layer it under a thicker balm, that way you get double the moisture. Again the scent is beautiful, much like all the Aesop products it has a great earthiness to it.
Seeing as I can’t live without lip balm I would love to hear what lip balms you love?

I have a confession to make – I am a perfume addict! I have so many perfumes yet I continue to buy more so I thought I would share with you some of my absolute favourite scents that I reach for on an everyday basis.
First up is a fragrance that has been in my collection for close to ten years it Flora By Gucci – I first purchased this when i was in Hong Kong and went a little cray cray when I saw the prices but I have repurchased this several time since, I have a feeling this will always be in my collection. This is what I would call a floral yet sweet fragrance with notes of peony and mandarin that gives this a beautiful fresh scent. I tend towards fresh scents which is why I love this one so much plus it is one that I can still smell on me at the end of the day and the compliments I get aren’t hated either. Next up is another oldie but a goodie, this is the first grown up perfume I was ever given, its J’adore by Dior – I mean just look at the damn bottle, so elegant and sleek you know its holding a good scent in there! Again this is quite floral with notes of jasmine and rose which gives the most sophisticated scent and just screams I’m so fancy! I am almost out of this so I’ve been using it sparingly but whenever I wear it my mother always tells me ‘that’s your scent, I always think I you when I smell that’ which I think is really lovely. I will definitely be picking this up in duty free when I go to Europe. Next up is a brand that was quite new to me up until a year ago, the Diptyque Do Son – Surprise, surprise another floral scent, this one contains Tuberose, rose and orange notes giving yet again a fresh scent of floral and and sweet. I love that this is supposed to represent the scent of seaside Vietnam and really want to go there now, if this is what it smells like then I am in! I have a whole post dedicated to this beauty so head here if you would like to read it. Finally I have my newest purchase to join the group, a very extravagant purchase but one I couldn’t go past, it’s the Tom Ford Black Orchid – Again look at this stunning bottle! Stunning and sophisticated. This is one of the deepest scents I own, the musky yet floral tones is very modern and glamorous which I just love. This beauty also lasts on me all day, I can still smell this on me and my clothes at the end of the day which is a real bonus.
What are your favourite scents? Have you tried any of these perfumes?

My life would be totally incomplete without blush, I rely on it completely to brighten up my face and make me look alive especially on those less than perfect days! So today I thought I would share with you my favourite blushes in my collection.
First up is the newest but already one of the most loved in my collection, it’s the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat – Hourglass has killed it lately with their entire ambient lighting range, I have got one from each of their ranges and this blush is probably the most used out of them all! It is such a natural looking peachy pink shade with a slight shimmer through it as well as the ambient lighting powder running through it with gives the perfect lit from within glow. This is perfect for those days that I don’t feel so healthy and am in desperate need of that glow! Next up is a great drugstore find the Milani Baked Powder Blush in Luminoso – One of the beauty worlds favourites! It again is a beautiful peachy pink shade with a stunning gold shimmer through it, I absolutely love this on a day to day basis to add some colour into make face and with that touch of shimmer I just love the healthy glow it gives off. I am clearly all about the glow! Now onto the matte blushes, I picked this one up out of necessity on holidays when I lost my other blush but It turned out to be a lucky surprise. It’s The Body Shop All-in-One Cheek Colour in Guava – This is such a super simple pop of pink colour that looks great in the summer to give you a nice flush on the cheeks. The shade is not super pigmented which is good in this case as you can’t really go overboard with it, no clown face over here! Another matte love of mine is the Bobbi Brown Blush in Sand Pink – This is a great winter shade, it adds some depth to the face and although it doesn’t look subtle in the pan it definitely looks subtle on the skin. I often use this when I’m wearing a berry toned lip to keep the same kind of tones in the look. Finally lets get back to the shimmer, I have been loving the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Seductive Pink – I purchased this beauty as I heard it was a dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushes and I really think they are! It’s beautifully creamy like the Hourglass one as well as the two shades running through the blush giving a nice sheen as well as a great depth to the skin. Now these are not the cheapest drug store blushes in the world but If you don’t want to all out for the Hourglass blush I would definitely recommend these!

As many of my readers know I have quick only skin so I am always on the hunt for the next new foundation that claims to be mattifying and long lasting. When the L’oreal Infallible 24 Hour Matte foundation came out I knew I had to get my hands on it quickly! I bought this about 2 months ago now and I really wanted to give it a good old work out before I made my mind up and told all of you what I though about it. Well I have given it a serious work out and I have to tell you it is a miracle! First lets talk about the application, I still use a primer so my foundation really has a good chance at lasting then I apply this with my favourite Sigma Flat Top Kabuki. I really work it into the skin so it looks seamless, it blends super easily and has a brilliant amount of coverage. As I have fairly patchy blotchy skin so I really needs something that covers all of my red spots and this really does, it one layer it truly evens out my skin tone which also means I don’t need to use as much concealer on my face. Bonus! Now I have read a few reviews of this and many people don’t seem to use powder with this, but I just can’t do that I need to know that my t-zone isn’t going to look like a shiny disco ball after a couple of hours so I put a light dusting of powder on my t-zone and it really makes it all stay in place. This is the most important part – the lasting time! To truly test this out I wore this on one of my really long days that involves a lot of travelling and walking quite a distance. I am telling you by the end of the day it was still all there without looking cakey, most days I don’t have a chance to freshen up my makeup I normally just use the cheapo university toilet paper to blot my nose and keep on going. So the fact that this lasted all day with only minimal oil breakthrough is an absolute miracle to me. Plus it didn’t cling to my dry patches at the end of the day either!
All in all I think this is definitely my new favourite long lasting matte foundation, I can’t wait to see how this holds up in the summer as well! I also think this will be a staple in my travel makeup bag, something that is easy to apply and lasts all day without any touch ups, this baby is definitely coming to Europe with me!
Have any of you tried this foundation? What did you think?
